Faecal immunochemical test (FIT)
The NHS bowel screening programme uses a test called the faecal immunochemical test (FIT) to check for blood in stool samples. It is offered to individuals aged 50 to 74 in the UK. The screening aims to detect bowel cancer at an early stage when treatment is more effective. If you are eligible, you will receive an invitation to participate in the screening programme. If you have mislaid your kit or need to order another kit you can call the free helpline on 0800 7076060.
